Secondary School and Youth Update

2 Sep 2021

Kia Ora North Harbour Rugby Community.
We hope you are all safe and well.

North Harbour Rugby has confirmed the cancellation of the remainder of all schools and Youth Rugby competitions in the region. Under the regulations as per New Zealand Government, Sport NZ and NZ Rugby regulations we are not able to complete grades such as 1A 1st XV through to Rip Rugby as no rugby of any kind can go ahead under current alert Level 4 (or 3) conditions. This situation sadly ends our 2021 Youth Rugby season and means the conclusion of all our school competitions.

This season we were extremely excited about the competitiveness of the FujiFilm Business Innovation 1A 1st XV competition, the 1B, and the newly formed Youth Boys and Girls competitions.

We would like to thank FujiFilm Business Innovation for their continued support of our First XV 1A competition, also all the wonderful volunteers, coaches, managers, parents, and teachers in charge of rugby who have all created great experiences for our Rangatahi playing Youth Rugby.

Harbour Rugby looks forward to building on the success of
the new age and weight system and Rip Rugby offerings which has seen an increase in team entries from 67 in 2019, to 83 teams in 2021.

We wish all Youth Rugby participants well in their upcoming spring/summer sporting experiences.

Regards

Bill Wigglesworth
