What is a Teacher in Charge of Rugby (TiC)?
The Teacher in Charge is the person at the School who is responsible for managing rugby and is the liaison with the North Harbour Rugby Union. This could be a Teacher, administrator or Sports Co-ordinator.

When and where are trainings and games?
Games are played on Saturday mornings with grade games at 9.30am and 10.40am and 1st XV games at 12.00pm. There is a balance of home and away fixtures throughout the season

Teams train after school (usually between 3.30pm – 5.30pm) at the school grounds.

How long is the season?
The season runs through Terms 2 and 3 with finals at the end of August. Games are not played on public holiday weekends or on middle Saturdays of School Holidays.

What are the grades?
1st  XV          Under 19 (open weight)
2nd XV          Under 19 (open weight)
3rd Grade    Under 19 (open weight)
4th Grade     Under 17 and Under 70kg  
5th Grade     Under 15 (open weight)     or Under 16 and Under 55kgs
6th Grade     Under 15 and Under 63kg
7th Grade     Under 14 and Under 52kg  or Under 15 and 45.0kg or less

Is rugby safe?
Rugby Union is a sport which involves physical contact and any sport involving physical contact has inherent dangers. Mouthguards are compulsory and all coaches and referees must attend training courses held by the North Harbour Rugby Union to ensure they are qualified and understand the principles of safe and correct technique.
