qBE NORTH HARBOUR ANNOUNCE NEW ITM CUP HEAD COACH
Today, QBE North Harbour Rugby announced Steve Jackson as the Union’s new Head Coach. “The Board is very excited to have a coach of Steve’s calibre lead Harbour Rugby in the next chapter as we seek to improve the performance of our ITM Cup team. Steve is a proven leader on and off the field, and has good recent history of working with high level players, as well as long standing connections here in the Harbour region”, says North Harbour Rugby Chairman John Morgan.
“The North Harbour Rugby Union has achieved significant success in a number of areas over recent years including the growth of our player numbers, the success of a number of our representative teams; the number of Harbour players selected at National level, and of course our recent investment in the Blues franchise and the Board is now focussing its attention on improving the performance of our ITM Cup team.” Morgan goes on to say.
Steve Jackson (Head Coach)
Steve rejoins the Harbour staff for his second stint having served as a Rugby Development Officer and Commercial Manager during 2003 - 2005. During that period he also made 8 appearances for the Union.
Steve is the current Assistant Coach for the Counties Manukau Steelers were he has been since 2010. Prior to joining the Steelers, Steve’s Rugby CV saw him serve on the coaching staff at the Tasman Makos 2008. He was the Head Coach at Marist (Nelson) in 2007 – 2009 and was the Head Coach of our own Massey Club in 2005.
As a player Steve has toured Australia in 2002 with the NZ Maoris; was in the NZ Under 19 (1992), NZ Secondary Schools (1991) and NZ Under 17’s (1990). Steve played for the Tasman Makos (2008), North Harbour (2004, 2005), Southland (1998 – 2003) where he captained them (2002,2003) and Auckland (1995 – 1997).
Steve has demonstrated a history of success at every level of Rugby in which he has worked. With Counties Manukau he is the current Ranfurly Shield holder and Premiership semi-finalist; and his Marist side (Nelson) and his Massey side were Premiership winners under his reign. He also achieved significant success as a player.

I am really looking forward to the opportunity to play a role in developing these young players to grow as professionals, build a culture of success and assisting them to achieve their individual aspirations” says Harbour Rugby Head Coach, Steve Jackson.

Steve will take up his post in the new year.
QBE & North Harbour Rugby announce new 3 year deal
QBE Insurance and the North Harbour Rugby Union today announced a renewed three year sponsorship deal.
The QBE/North Harbour relationship has been fostered over the past 13 years. Following a challenging season at ITM Cup level, the QBE/North Harbour discussions have focused around continuing to develop the tremendous potential for rugby within the Region and making sure that North Harbour maintains its positive contribution to New Zealand rugby.
