Rugby Stars is a new in school initiative by North Harbour Rugby. It is a way of teaching young wahine the benefits of hauora through the vehicle of rugby. It is such an exciting time to be a female in sport, but we know the challenges that come with being a teenager. The largest drop off of young girls playing sport is between the ages of 11 and 14, and we want to try change that.

What is Rugby Stars?

Rugby Stars is a 5 week in school programme where female students in years 7-10 learn through games, through problem solving and through leading the key aspects of hauora. Our Rugby Star Activators are enthusiastic about female rugby and know first-hand what it’s like navigating being a teenager and wanting to play sport. The programme is designed for all levels and abilities in mind as it promotes well-being, teamwork and communication amongst your peers. Students will get a workbook with information about hauora and activities they can complete at home with their whanau, or with their friends at school or club.

Taha tinana, taha wairua, taha hinengaro, taha whanau are vital to a young females upbringing, and we want your students to come on this journey of discovery and learning.
