Developing our future leaders through rugby

What is Rugby Leaders?

The programme is for girls in years 11, 12 and 13 use rugby as a vehicle to provide opportunities for young people to learn about leadership, it’s challenges, personal development and how to lead by giving back to their community. The workshops are activity based and work in a tiered system of accomplishment. All participants start in the bronze workshop and work their way up to gold. We want to help foster wonderful female leaders in our rugby community and know how important a young persons involvement in sport is on their personal development. Being involved in sport opens many doors, with the Rugby Leaders Programme we aim to give the participants as many skills and opportunities to grow so they can take those back to their club, whanau and community and into life beyond.

Participants have the opportunity to gain national coaching and refereeing qualifications which will, along with the leadership learning, provide the participants the chance to give back to their local club, school or rugby community.
