Vacancy: Assistant/Resource Coach (Bunnings Warehouse NPC)


A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a role as Assistant Coach for the North Harbour NPC squad and resource coach for 2025 to High Performance. 

 

North Harbour Rugby was formed in 1985 and encompasses a geographical area that includes 12 rugby clubs and 18 secondary schools within the North Harbour region.

The purpose of the Assistant Coach and the development of the academy and wider training group is; 

 

To provide specialist coaching for the Men’s Premier NPC squad and a weekly resource to develop academy and Wider training players. 

 

To be considered for this role the person must be a leader to drive the Harbour Way in our community. This must be backed up by strong personal qualities and a management style that connects, grows & potentiates our people. The person must have excellent Rugby acumen and be technically and tactically proficient in skill development and coaching when it comes to the modern game. We would expect the person to have 6 years + coaching experience. The person must also exhibit a passion and desire to connect with our community game.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

TERM

9 months

 

February- June: Bunnings NPC Off-season: Minimum hours per week i.e. mornings, evenings or weekends (to be agreed).

 

July- October: NPC Pre-season and In-season: Assembled with the NPC squad.

Coaching, Technical andTactical Skills (60%)

  • Lead a skill development program for identified amateur players in the region in conjunction with the NPC wider training group program.
  • Support the NPC coaches and lead the wider training group during the NPC off-season period.
  • Lead the review process (including using available technologies) for identified players for the NPC program during the NPC off-season period.
  • Support coaching strategies & methodologies for the NPC Cup in the following areas: Forwards & Skill development.
  • Support the development of appropriate game plans, review and measure individual and team performance against these plans.

 

  • Support technical and tactical coaching of individual players and mini units within the Team as appropriate.
  • Fully utilise all available technologies (i.e., Analysts, GPS, etc) to analyse, understand and develop individual and team performance.
  • Maintains positive and constructive relationship management with NZ rugby, Blues and with other coaches.

Strategic (10%)

  • Support the overall strategy of the North Harbour PerformanceProgram

 

  • Support the integration and alignment of the Blues Regional High-Performance Program

 

  • Support the development of the Woman’s Performance Programs

Administration and Operational Management(10%)

  • Administration and Operational Management

 

  • Preparation of planning and reporting documentation as required.

 

  • Excellent standards of written and verbal communication.
