Merv Jamieson

7 Apr 2022

Merv Jamieson was one of Harbour longest and most fervent supporters. Merv sadly passed away on Monday April 4th 2022 at the age of 93. He is survived by his wife Marg. The pair followed Frank Bunce to Harbour in 1992 and have supported the Union ever since.

In the 90s Marg used to make a cake for the squad before every match and after former Harbour Captain and All Black Richard Turner requested is she started making two every week! In later years Marg also knitted miniature socks for the squad every season. She started this in order to mark her golden wedding anniversary with Merg and show her support to the team. Merv then attached key rings to the tiny socks and they were then given out to the players becoming a "lucky charm".

Despite not being in great health recently they would still call the team every week prior to the match wishing the boys all the best.

Harbour would like to send our deepest condolences to Marg and to the other family and friends of Merv. He will forever be remembered and a part of the North Harbour Rugby Union.
