2012 Under 21 and
Under 20 First Round Shields Presented
On Saturday 9 June Union President Gary Howarth presented
the first round shields to the U21 and U20 grade winners for 2012. Takapuna Under 21 captain Andrew “Phar Lap”
Fegan received the Peter Thorburn shield on behalf of the team for winning the
first round of the Under 21 grade competition after 7 wins and 6 bonus points
and a 10 point lead over the 2nd placed team, North Shore. Helensville U20 captain Solomon King received
the Walter Little shield after 6 wins, a loss and 4 bonus points just ahead of
Massey by one point. Its great to see Takapuna age group teams performing well
and for Helensville a strong age group team with good numbers augers well for
the future of the club and the Western Pioneers.
