James Kings signs for Rebels

QBE Insurance North Harbour lock James King has signed a two-year deal to play for the Melbourne Rebels in the Super 15 competition.

King made his debut for Harbour in 2007 but in the last three seasons has become an integral part of the Harbour forward pack, with his outstanding lineout skills and speed around the park making him a particularly valuable player in the modern game.

The 24-year-old is looking forward to joining former Harbour teammate Tom Chamberlain and high profile Wallaby backs James O’Connor and Kurtley Beale in a new-look Rebels squad.

“I am very much looking forward to the opportunity to play for the Rebels and to start something new,” King says. “The Rebels cannot go anywhere but up from here so it is an opportunity to help build something which is exciting.

“It is definitely going to be good for my game. I have been at Harbour since I left school and have been proud to wear the jersey. My game has developed into more of a tighter game and in Australia it will be an opportunity to learn off someone new and develop other aspects of my game. It is all positive and I'm very much excited about the prospect but want to finish the season well with Harbour first.”
