Intermediate School  

Welcome to the 2011 Intermediate Schools Rugby Tournament.   This year will be the 4th year in operation, over the past three years the tournament has grown steadily.  The focus for the 2011 tournament will be on Rippa Rugby.   In celebration of the RWC, Auckland City Council will be hosting a Rippa tournament for the winners of the North Harbour, Auckland and Counties Manukau tournaments.  The top 3 winners from each North Harbour module will attend this RWC event on Tuesday 4th October.

 

WHY AN INTERMEDIATE SCHOOLS TOURNAMENT?

To provide Intermediate school players the opportunity to experience a rugby orientated sport that is non contact.  It also encourages boys and girls from school and neighboring schools to play with and against one another, and allow students to get active, make friends and give rugby a go!

In 2012 North Harbour Rugby will be introducing a Secondary School version of Rippa rugby; the Intermediate School tournament will give the players experience and understanding of this game, with a view that they may elect to play this version of rugby when they move onto secondary school.

WHEN IS IT?

The tournament runs on Wednesday’s in Term 2 and 3. Your school plays once a month over three month’s. Please see the attached times and dates for your school.

 

WHERE DOES IT HAPPEN?

There are two modules: Western (Massey RFC) and Northern (Silverdale RFC). Your school will be allocated to the closest module.

 

HOW MUCH SCHOOL TIME IS TAKEN UP?

Three days spread over terms 2 and 3, from 9.30am – 2.00pm.

 

DATES AND VENUES OF IST MODULES.

Module field days are scheduled Wednesdays. All teams are to be assembled by 9.30am for a 10.15am start with games finished for departure at 2.00pm.
