Developing Rugby Coaches Course 2011
North Harbour are pleased to offer the NZRU Developing Rugby Coaches Course (DRC) in 2011. DRC is a course which provides coaches with an outstanding overview of coaching rugby. The second DRC 2011 course will begin in November and December 2011the remaining portion of the course will take place in 2012 (Feb/March).
North Harbour Rugby Union will utilise top resource coaches to deliver this programme, covering topics such as Principles of Play; Role of the Coach; Skill Analysis; Unit and Mini Unit Skills; Continuity Skills; Laws of the Game; Advanced Individual Skills; Physical Conditioning; Communication; Team Selection and Game Sense Coaching Techniques.
DRC is step one on the NZRU Coaching pathway and is designed for coaches involved with teams preferably at Representative, 1st XV Secondary School level, U19, U21 and all other Premier Club Teams. This course qualifies coaches to IRB Level 2.
The DRC Level 2 consists of 14 modular and is conducted over 7 sessions. 6 evening sessions 2.5 – 3hrs in duration and 1 complete day session 9am – 4pm covering the remaining 6 modules, the sessions are broken into a mix of theory based and practical learning.
DRC is Level 1 & 2 Course
• It can take you as long as you want to complete – learn at your own pace!
14 Modules
• You go into the NZRU database as having attended individual modules
Practical Assessment
• Once you have attended all the modules you will be assessed by a NHRU Rugby
Development Officer. Pass/ Fail grading system.
• You will get a NZRU certificate of completion once you have attended all the modules
and have passed your practical assessment.
